Kyoto Courses


You May Choose between:


1) Study & Culture Course

Highlights:

  • Total beginners can enrol.
  • Enrolling in the first week of every month.
  • Course is for total beginners, up to JLPT N3 (intermediate Japanese) level. Too good at Japanese? See courses for upper levels here
  • Small class sizes (max 15 per class). Students are in a more relaxed atmosphere and can make friends easily.
  • There are 20 lessons per week.
    10 will be focused on experiencing the Japanese culture, by doing trips and cultural exchanges with Japanese people, using the practical Japanese learnt in class. This is a great way to retain the language you have learnt.
    The other 10 lessons will be for electives that you choose, to focus on your individual needs and purposes: Reading comprehension/writing, cultural experience, JLPT exam or practical conversation.
  • Many optional cultural activities (such as tea ceremonies, buddhist cuisine experience) are available after class.

New Facilities:

  • Modern building designed to look like a traditional Japanese styled house (Machiya)
  • Cozy open terrace café
  • PC room, Cultural study room, Library, Self-study room, IT class rooms, Auditorium, Vending machines, Water coolers and Wi-Fi available.

Recommended for:

Those who want to improve their Japanese and learn the culture in a short period, with a good study pace, and also have enough time to explore Kyoto.


Note: Minimum course is 2 weeks.

The approximate time for a beginner to reach JLPT N3 (intermediate level Japanese) is only 9 months.
If you wish to study further, you may complete a test and transfer to the relevant level in the Intensive Courses found below.


School Features:

  • English-speaking staff available and part-time job finding support. 

  • All classes are conducted in Japanese. This direct teaching method allows you to start thinking in Japanese, meaning you will learn at a much faster pace. The teachers will bring cards with drawings, so even if you are a beginner, you will have no problem understanding what they are saying.
  • Scholarships available to those on a student visa with excellent grades and attendance, who are studying for over one year.
    (Maximum study duration is 2 years on a student visa. You most likely need a student visa if you would like to study for over 3 months. Contact us and we will walk you through the process).

Location:

 

Kyoto is great you can learn about the traditional culture of Japan and take in your beautiful surroundings. It is less crowded than Tokyo and the cost of living is less. You get the convenience of the city plus the wonderful peaceful nature and fresh air of the mountains and rivers surrounding. This course ensures that you make the most of the culture found here, and show you things that you will otherwise not experience by yourself.

2) Beginner's Academic Japanese Course

Highlights:

  • A well balanced curriculum where students will focus on reading, listening, writing and speaking and gain the 4 basic skills of the Japanese language.
  • Total beginners can enrol; however, learning Hiragana first is highly recommended.

New Facilities:

Intensity Level: 

Medium-High

Recommended For:

Those serious about studying and want to learn overall Japanese.. Classes are fast-paced. You will still get a chance to explore. Plus, on a student visa you can work 28 hours a week, and most students work.

3) Intensive Courses


Please see the beginner's academic course above if you are still a beginner. The intensive courses are elective classes that you may choose once you reach JLPT N3 level or equivalent (intermediate level Japanese). Generally, it only takes 9 months for a total beginner to reach intermediate level.


If you are at intermediate level now, you may study towards:

University Entrance in Japan,

Entering college in Japan, or

Passing the N1 or N2 JLPT.
